The part near Greg's neighborhood, Surrey Street is hilly but there is also a coast line as the beach has appeared and is mentioned many times. It is unknown in which state it is located. In the movie, Heather Hills can be seen driving before her 16th birthday, meaning the state's minimum driving age is either 14 or 15 as United States's driving ages vary from states and also Rodrick is said to be a high school junior in one of the early books and still drives a car despite most high school juniors being 14-15.
