Dr. Salazar Kagan is a professional oral surgeon and a dentist. He appears as a minor Antagonist. In the books, he is referred to as Dr. Kagan. He is a rather new antagonist in the series, making his debut in The Ugly Truth, and becomes Greg's new dentist when his father abruptly changed dentists for Greg. Dr. Kagan is a sadistic dentist who decorates his waiting room with posters of oral disease, unnerving his patients in the waiting room. In the middle of his first appointment with Greg Heffley, he gets his finger bitten when he is taking x-rays with Greg's molars. As a result of his anger from his bit finger or according to the x-rays, he prescribes headgear to Greg, who didn't need it. The headgear was later stolen by Manny Heffley much to the delight of Greg.

Trivia

 • Dr. Kagan's appearance is quite identical to Chirag Gupta's father. The only difference is the presence of his moustache.
 • It's mentioned in the second book that Greg brushes his teeth at least four or five times, so despite his eating and drinking habits, he takes pretty good care of his teeth (for the most part at least).
 • Even though Dr. Kagan is a long-term, trusted dentist for Frank, he might not be a very responsible professional, since he promptly made Greg go upon a treatment he did not seem to actually need, just to punish him for - accidentally - biting and annoying him.
