Happy Meal
Happy Meals are kids meals that are sold at McDonald's in the real world. A Diary of a Wimpy Kid Happy Meal promotion was in the United Kingdom from September 14–October 18, 2016 as a part of McDonald's "Happy Readers" program.[1] In August 2019, the same promotion was done in Australia.[2] One of eight small books was included in each meal.
In the UK, the Happy Meal boxes had a voucher, valid from September 14–November 1, 2016[3], that a person could take to a participating WHSmith store (or Easons in Northern Ireland) to pay one euro for Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Awesome Activity Book. Each voucher also had a free download code for the eBook, The Best of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Six of the books are "story books", and each of them started with "How to Survive..." in their title. They reuse some pages from existing Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and include unique activities.
Different colored helium balloons were also handed out in the United Kingdom & Ireland. They featured the Diary of a Wimpy Kid logo along with the Happy Meal logo and a picture of a DOAWK character.
