Plot

Greg and Rowley are playing a game called Uncharted Wilderness, with Frank criticizing the game for being unrealistic. Greg believes he is a wilderness expert and tries to prove Frank's claim that he and Rowley "wouldn't last even an hour in the outdoors in real life" wrong by camping for a weekend. As they walk to the woods, Greg starts taking tips for a guidebook on wilderness survival. While setting up their tent, Greg hits Rowley's thumb with a mallet, leading to Tip #1: Don't set up your tent in the dark. He then struggles with the poles and writes Tip #2: Practice setting up your tent at home. When the tent is set up, they start a campfire and plan to make s'mores until it starts raining. Tip #3: Check the weather before heading out. Greg and Rowley return to their tent and Rowley finds crickets in his sleeping bag, so Greg writes Tip #4: Check your sleeping bag for insects before getting in. Greg starts telling a ghost story before they sleep and comes up with a man named Silas Scratch who eats campers alive and lives in the woods. He ends up scaring both himself and Rowley, and as they plan to start sleeping in shifts, they are startled by a noise outside the tent. They run home and see their food being eaten by raccoons, leading to Tip #5: Don't leave food out where animals can get it. Greg admits that he is not an outdoors person and believes that his guidebook will sell a million copies as he writes Tip #6: Make sure you're never too far from help in case of an emergency.
