Greg describes him as the only student he knows to have broken the "Last Name Rule," which means that one does worse in school the further down the alphabet their last initial is.
According to Greg, Peter was the smartest boy in their class up until sometime in 5th grade, when some of the other students started teasing him for his initials. This led to Peter not raising his hand anymore, and he went from being a straight A student to a C student. Greg admits that he does feel bad about what happened to Peter, but he also likes to brag that he was the one who started the joke.
