Gender Male
Age 64
Actor Frank C. Turner

Mr. Barrett is the scoutmaster of Troop 133, which is the troop Greg and Rowley were members of in The Last Straw. When Greg and Rowley couldn't carve a wood block into a model, he gave them soap which would be less hard to carve. Instead of carving the soap with their knives, they just got the soap wet and soft in order to change its shape manually. Greg first made a sculpture of a sheep, which did not resemble a sheep at all but was still considered valid by Mr. Barrett. Greg then flipped this sculpture, making it resemble the shape of a vessel hull, and then told Mr. Barrett that it was a sculpture of the RMS Titanic. He remains oblivious of being fooled by Greg and even seems to consider the soap sculpture really resembling the ship. He once announced a father-son camp-out. He is played by Frank C. Turner in the film Dog Days .

Trivia

  • When Greg tries to fool him into considering his obviously poorly made "sheep" an sculpture, the reason that makes Greg's idea work may be that Mr. Barrett simply did not mean to be rude by criticising Greg's work of art.
  • However, since he is unable to notice that Greg's sculpture of the Titanic was in fact the same sculpture he had seen before, this may hint that he is simply lazy or does not pay the proper attention to the work the kids are submitting to him.
