The Mingo Kids first appear in Hard Luck, where Greg happens to step too close to their territory. One of the Mingo Kids intervenes and warns Greg with the idle threat of Meckley doing harm. They later appear in The Meltdown, where Greg happens to stumble into the inner sanctum of the Mingo clan, where Greg and Rowley happens to accidentally make off with Meckley's belt buckle. The Mingos find out and sound an alarm, where Greg and Rowley make a break for it. They eventually join the snowball fight scene at the end of the book.
