Coach Malone is the gym teacher at Westmore Middle School in Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Rodrick Rules. He is exclusive to the movie and replaces Mr. Underwood.

During the movie, he makes his first appearance during Greg's P.E. class. He tells the stronger, bigger kids that they're shirts, and the wimpier, smaller kids that they're skins, which Chirag says is "to make kids like us feel bad." Then, they play a game of Gladiator, where Greg and Rowley hide beneath the bleachers. Coach Malone also teaches wrestling. When Greg and Rowley sign up, he shows the kids how to do a speed takedown and arm drag, then categorizes kids by their weight, which are Rottweilers, Bulldogs, and Chihuahuas. After Greg faces several humiliating losses against Fregley, the only other kid in the Chihuahua weight class, he decides to gain ten pounds so he can wrestle Rowley. However, Coach Malone pairs Greg up with Patty Farrel, despite the fact that it is boy's wrestling. Towards the end of the movie, Coach Malone chases away the teenagers from Halloween that were hassling Greg and Rowley.
