In The Third Wheel, Michael tells his girlfriend, Abigail Brown, that he can't come to the school dance because of family obligations. He thought Abigail wouldn't come to the dance, so he could go with Cherie without Abigail's knowledge. He was surprised to see Abigail at the dance, and when she started crying, he abandoned Cherie and left the building.
