In The Third Wheel, the Stringers come to the Heffley house for dinner, where Greg was volunteered to babysit Wesley, after hearing Mrs. Stringer complain of not being able to find a reliable person for the job. Greg recieved the job, but he was found sleeping in Laurel's bed so Mr. Stringer presumably fired him.
