Some kid heard a rumor that he survived by eating slugs and berries and living in the woods. Another kid also said that she heard he went crazy and grew his fingernails really long. In the end, it turns out Greg's dad made up the story of Silas Scratch when he was younger and took a trip to Hardscrabble Farms.
