Mamadou Montpierre

Mamadou Montpierre was Greg Heffley's French pen-pal. Greg tells him that he will write in English (instead of French) to him, since Greg is not used to writing in French. He has only appeared in the second book; Greg terminates the relationship with him as soon as Mamadou sends him a picture he deems to be stupid. He has never been mentioned since.

Trivia

• Mamadou's surname is Saint-Pierre in the online version.
• Although he was supposed to be Greg's pen-pal (implying a positive relationship between the two), the only actual written letter shown in Rodrick Rules involves Mamadou trying to be nice and considerate of Greg, while Greg criticizes his English spelling; ironically, Greg misspells the word instead of Mamadou.
