Does Watching Violent Movies Make People Think Violent Thoughts? was a science project by Rodrick prior to Rodrick Rules. Greg says it was just a excuse to allow Rodrick and his friends see horror movies on school nights.

The intention was for Rodrick and his friends to watch violent movies, and then draw pictures to show how it affected them. Rodrick watched the movies, but he never actually did the rest of it. So Greg, Frank Heffley, and Susan Heffley had to bail him out by finishing the rest of his work. All that ended up happening was Greg getting punished because Susan found his drawings "disturbing".
