Fox 2000 has greenlit the sequel and confirmed that [[Zachary Gordon]] return as Greg Heffley.<sup class="reference" id="cite_ref-3">[4]</sup> [[Steve Zahn]] and [[Rachael Harris]] are also confirmed to return. The film will be directed by [[David Bowers (director)|David Bowers]] and the screenplay will be written by Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah. Principal photography began in Vancouver on August 2010.
