Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Meltdown, is the upcoming 13th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It will release on October 30th, 2018. The cover of the book is dark purple with an icy font that says the book's subtitle: "The Meltdown." It has a picture of Greg as a snowman with the sun in the background melting the snow.
It was confirmed that a 13th book would be made by Jeff Kinney via his Twitter account in a response to a fan question. [1] It was later officialy announced on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Website and in an article by Publishers Weekly that was also shared by Jeff Kinney on his Twitter account. [2]

When a wintry blast closes Greg Heffley’s middle school, it turns his neighborhood into a battleground, complete with snow forts, alliances, betrayals, and epic snowball fights.[3]

- This is the second purple book. This is the first since The Ugly Truth.
- This is the 13th book in the series.
- This is the third book to not have the word "Diary" in yellow. The first two books are Dog Days and Hard Luck.
- However, this is the first odd-numbered book to not have the word "Diary" in yellow.
- This is the first book to use two different shades of one color. On the top half of the book, it is colored Blue-ish Dark Purple. While on the bottom half of the book, it is colored Red-ish Dark Purple.
