The new book will release on November 1st, 2016 according to various sites linked as places to order the book, on the new books news page on the official diary of a wimpy kid website and in information found in the books news page on the official website. An official teaser image for the new book was released on the Wimpy Kid official website on March 10th, 2016. The book's cover will be revealed on April 28th during a live broadcast. The book will be released on November 1st, 2016. [1][2]
Although Jeff Kinney has not yet revealed the cover, he stated that the title is "right in front of you". The books cover will release on April 28th, 2016 during a live event in New York and to a live audience via a webcast at: www.wimpykid.com/virtuallylive

Jeff Kinney stated in an interview that the book will be about exceptionalism. In an interview, Jeff stated that "Greg's always thought he was special in some way, despite lacking any evidence to support that notion.
