Summary
The book begins with an introduction to Gregory "Greg" Heffley and his middle school life. It takes place during his first year of middle school. He hates it as soon as the school year starts, dealing with bullies, homework, and even rotten cheese known as the Cheese touch. Greg can't wait until it's over. Luckily he has his friend Rowley Jefferson by his side. At home, his older brother, Rodrick Heffley continues picking on him. His younger brother, Manny Heffley is a total brat, and his parents Susan Heffley and Frank Heffley are no help. When traveling to Rowley's house, he deals with the weird boy, Fregley. Everytime Greg deals with this, he's totally defined as a wimpy kid.
Film Adaption
In 2010, the book was adapted into an animated/live action feature film. It was directed by Thor Freudenthal and was rated PG.
