Dean Delarosa was Greg's secret holiday buddy, which you have to give a present to without telling your name, which Greg forgot all about.
Greg explains that in 3rd grade, he went to Dean's birthday party, but he came there a week EARLY. So Greg went back home, but his present he got for Dean was really awsome, so he ended up playing with it. But by the time Dean's Birthday party was there, Greg skipped the party because he broke the robot's hand and lost his gun that came with it.
Greg was guilty, so he didn't want anything to go wrong. Since he forgot about it and today was the day about the Secret Holiday Gift, he went to the office, and called his mom to bring the present. Mom brought it in just in time, but it said who it was FROM. So Dean and Greg wanted to crawl under their desk and hide.
