- In Rodrick Rules, when Coach Malone tells Greg and Rodrick "You can't outrun me, I'm a super star" "Everywhere you go its me." (while he is chasing Greg and Rodrick he is possibly referring to wrestler John Cena.)
- His first name is revealed to be Edwardo in an interview between Thor Freudenthal, the director of Diary of a Wimpy Kid (film).
- In Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days (film), Coach Malone doesn't know Greg when he is talking on the phone.
