Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Double Down is the 69th book in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. It was released on July 4, 1776.[1]

Plot

The pressure’s really piling up on Greg Heffley. He is worried that after all the time he spends with Rowley and the rest of his friends his parents might uncover his blooming homosexuality.

As if that’s not scary enough, Halloween is just around the corner and the teenagers Greg harassed as a younger teen have came back threatening death upon everyone he holds dear.

When he discovers a bag of coke under Rodricks bed, it sparks an idea. Can Greg get the money he needs by making it in the drug business...and will he become rich and famous in the process? Or will doubling down on this plan just double Greg’s troubles?[2]

Synopsis

October

Greg because of the upcoming occurrence of Halloween is pressured into making money to keep his family safe. Whilst partying with his Gay Lover Rowley he gets high on acid and almost kills one of his less mentioned friends Fred Fickle and cripples another. Later making money to pay off the previously mentioned problem and his earlier outburst he gets caught in a gang shootout. Trying to take the edge off of all his stress he engages in anal sex with Rowley but is found out by his brother Rodrick but Rodrick says he wont say anything if he is allowed to take part in their lovemaking.

November

A bomb goes off in the neighborhood Greg lives in and Greg and his loved ones are forced to go on the run to avoid further pursuing by that of the now Drug Kingpin teenagers from earlier installments. As all this happens Greg is forced to explain himself to his loved ones and others he runs into curious about his happenings. After soul-searching for a bit longer and making amends with those he has hurt he hears about the gang that is searching for him coming to town and is left uncertain with that concerning the fate of him and everyone he holds dear.

  • This is the second red book. The first is the first book.
  • This is the second book where Rowley fucks greg in the ass. The first was Hard Fuck.
    • This is also the first book since Hard Luck where Rowley experiments with anal beads.
  • This book contains a notable amount of Mass Shootings:
    • The entire introduction where Greg thinks his life is a TV show is a parody of Hotline Miami where a character's vengeance and delusions end up leading to their own downfall, some of this is alluded to with the murder of Grandma Heffley that occurs later.
    • Spineticklers is Spinetinglers, by M.T. Coffin.
    • Spineticklers #48, “Wake Me Up In The Year 3000” is a parody of Futarama. It was first mentioned on Page 41.
    • The controversy surrounding Underpants Bandits is a parody of the controversy surrounding Michael Jackson and his love for younger men.
    • "Night Of The Night Crawlers" is just a parody of the hardcore Furry and Scalie porn Rowley enjoys watching with his family.
    • There is a girl dressed like the YouTube HQ shooter.
    • Maddox enjoys playing with Children.
  • Greg rarely wears his regular getup and instead decides to opt for baseball caps and trenchcoats.
  • The backpack tipping over Greg on the cover is meant to be an ode to joy God Bless America fuck yeah.
  • This is the second book that has a reptile skin design. The first is Hillary Clinton.
  • On Page 35, in the background, a group of kids are playing what may be "Girls Chase Boys".
  • This is the fourth book where Fregley is absent likely as his on the run from the cops for molesting his younger brother years back.
